Topping out ceremony held at Student Housing Company’s 78 metre Beckley Point in Plymouth
A topping out ceremony has been held at Plymouth’s tallest building, which will house 508 students, when complete.
The 78-metre Beckley Point skyscraper will be operated by The Student Housing Company and will comprise studio apartments and ensuite flats over 20 floors.
The £29.5 million scheme will provide residents with access to shared communal spaces including a common room, cinema room, games room, and a sky lounge, offering views that stretch over Dartmoor, out into the Sound and as far as Cornwall. The ground and lower-ground floors will be reserved for office and commercial space, a management suite and ancillary areas.
The topping out ceremony was attended by Councillor Ian Bowyer, representatives from, The Student Housing Company, its parent company, GSA, and the building’s contractors, Kier.
The building will change the skyline of the city said Plymouth City Council Leader, Ian Bowyer.
