Northamptonshire Rural Housing Association to build 33 affordable homes in four villages

Northamptonshire Rural Housing Association (NRHA) has announced plans to build 33 affordable homes in four villages.

 

Work is set to start on site in Yarwell in early March where five homes for affordable rent and four for shared ownership are being developed with funding from the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA).

 

Funding has also been secured through the HCA’s Shared Ownership & Affordable Homes Programme for two developments in Little Addington and Brigstock.

 

A planning application has been submitted for NRHA’s first development in Little Addington for two homes for rent and four for shared ownership.  In Brigstock, plans are being proposed for one home for affordable rent and five for shared ownership, with a planning application set to be submitted later in the year.

 

Work is well underway on NRHA’s newest development in Braunston, which is due to be completed in June.  Phase 3 of the development at Maple Close will bring an additional 10 properties for affordable rent and two for shared ownership to the village.

 

NRHA is working closely with Braunston Parish Council, Daventry District Council and EMH Homes on the development, which has received £176,000 in funding from Daventry District Council and £405,000 from the HCA.

 

All the new properties will be built specifically for local people to help enable them to stay in the villages where they have a connection.

 

Northamptonshire Rural Housing Association company secretary, Craig Felts, said: “We are pleased that our plans to bring to affordable homes to Northamptonshire’s rural villages are moving forward positively.  These developments will contribute to the future sustainability of these communities where affordable housing is in great demand and people are being forced to move away due to a lack of affordable properties.”
