Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts delivers affordable homes in Edinburgh on behalf of Scottish Veterans’ Garden City Association
Work has completed on an affordable housing development for disabled veterans in Muirhouse, Edinburgh.
Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts has delivered five bespoke homes – terraced bungalows and semi-detached houses – for The Scottish Veterans’ Garden City Association (SVGCA) at Salvesen Gardens.
Lieutenant Colonel Richard Callander, chairman of SVGCA, said: “This development with Mactaggart & Mickel is one of great architectural merit. It is a classic example of a community within a community, and illustrates perfectly our tried and tested model of housing for disabled veterans that we have been perfecting for over a hundred years.”
The properties are constructed from closed panel timber frame supplied and erected by Mactaggart & Mickel Timber Systems.
Director Peter Shepherd said: “Our extensive construction experience and commitment to effective design allows us to offer value for money without compromising on the quality of the build; priorities which are vital for a project of this nature.
“I have no doubt that these homes will make a big difference to the lives of their residents, helping them retain their independence and freedom. It really is an honour to be a part of this project, helping some of our country’s heroes.”
The Salvesen Gardens project is the third that Mactaggart & Mickel Contracts has delivered for SVGCA, having previously handed over 10 homes at two developments in Motherwell and Wishaw.
