Galliford Try Partnerships submits plans for Starter Homes in Penwortham

Galliford Try Partnerships has submitted a detailed planning application to South Ribble Council to build a development in Penwortham, which will include Starter Homes.

The housing and regeneration specialist, which markets its homes under the Linden Homes banner, is to redevelop a derelict site off Hill Road South to build 61 properties.

Half of the homes will be available for open market sale under the Linden Homes brand and will include three- and four-bedroom semi and detached family homes.

The remainder – two-bedroom apartments and two-bedroom houses – will be sold through the government-backed ‘Starter Homes Initiative’, which offers first-time buyers aged between 23 and 40, a minimum discount of 20% on the market value of the new home.

The 4.2 acre site was previously owned by The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and the application follows Galliford Try Partnerships’ acquisition of the site last month.

If planning is approved work is expected to start on the site to be known as The Maltings later this year with the first completions scheduled for Summer 2018.

Darren Leary, development director at Galliford Try Partnerships, said: “We’re delighted to have been selected as the development partner for The Maltings and we look forward working with South Ribble Council to bring the towns first starter home development to life.”
